  1. Bananafish
    1. What is up with this bananafish? Seriously, I think I’m missing something? How did she see the bananfish? Was it just childhood imagination? Was she desperate to impress him? Clearly fish don’t eat bananas so her seeing a fish with a mouthful of bananas isn’t possible. What is going on? Am I looking at this too literally?
    2. They consistently mention him staring off at trees and don’t talk about it again than vague references to trees. What is up with the trees? I want to know what his obsession with the trees is?

    Zen
    1. Why does it often take more than one Koan to reach this moment of realization? If you struggle with one Koan and reach the impasse and suddenly realize the big thing about ‘not-controlling-or-being-controlled’ then why would you need another Koan? Wouldn’t the struggle to understand the first one already be epiphany enough?
    2. How is one to measure Satori? How is one to say that the answer is correct or incorrect if there’s no right answer to a Koan?
