1. How do the Women feel about Hester's punishment and why do they feel the way they do?
2. What did Hawthorne mean when he said, "There was a coarser fibre in those wives and maidens of old English birth and breeding,than in their fair descendants,separated from them by a series of six or seven generations...."
3. What kind of tone/mood can the female spectators most identify with?
