“What is the greatest accomplishment you could ever achieve in life? What lengths would you go to in order to achieve this accomplishment? Consider the moral and legal boundaries you would or would not cross.”
A thought occurred to me when thinking about my answer to this question. I was wondering about the title of this blog, “Challenging Conventions.” Most people when asked this question would respond happiness or having no regrets. Which I’m not saying isn’t the greatest accomplishment in life. However most of the time happiness or having no regrets is not the prime motivation for people to get up and go to work everyday. They just do it because they are supposed to and that is what is expected of them. Macbeth only kills Duncan because he feels he has to do it not because it will make him happy or that will give him no regrets. If anything it makes his life miserable. I think the greatest accomplishment in life is to find out what your values and goals are and do everything in your life revolving around accomplishing or satisfying them. So if your goal in life is to be happy then do whatever makes you happy. If it makes you happy to smoke weed and bum around all day then do that. If it is going to school and getting good grades then do that. If you are focused on being a good person than volunteer everyday in soup kitchens. The biggest enemy of satisfying you goals and values is human nature. Human nature makes people weak, greedy, and capable of things they wouldn’t normally do. For example if a person was a vegan and you put the person in a cell with only meat to eat, the person would likely eat the meat to survive. It is human nature to do whatever you must to survive. Most people aren’t willing to die for their beliefs. Martin Luther King Jr.’s goal was to end racism. He did everything in his power to end racial prejudice and was willing to die for it and he did. The greatest accomplishment in life is too stand for what you believe in, and never go back on your morals. Human nature makes people gullible and impressionable.
